Parent dedications are a way for parents to dedicate themselves to raise a child in a Godly home. It is a public commitment to raise children under the Lordship of Christ and to use the utmost wisdom and discretion in encouraging the child to live for Jesus. It is an act in which the parents give their child back to God, recognizing that the child is the Lord’s gift to them.
As stewards, we say with Hannah: “For this child I prayed; and the Lord has granted me my petition which I made to Him. Therefore, I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.” 1 Samuel 1:27-28
We recognize in the sovereignty of God that He gives children to some and not to others. For those of you who are still waiting, we want you to know that we are waiting with you.
As we witness the ceremony, we are reminded that our lives will have a strategic impact on these precious children as they are nurtured in the ways of the Lord. How we live out our Christian faith—or fail to—can have a profound effect on their understanding of God and the church. Much of what they learn of Christ will be seen in us.
Parent Dedication is open to parents who can truthfully say, “I will commit myself to raising this child to know the Lord Jesus Christ by loving, disciplining, training, and setting a positive Christ-like example.” If parents are unmarried and living separately, only the primary custodial parent may participate. Parents who are unmarried and living together are asked to live separately or wait until they are married to dedicate their child. For further clarification of this or any other guideline, please contact us.
Prior to the dedication, the parents will meet with someone from CFC to discuss the meaning and the process of the dedication.
Our next parent dedications will be the weekend of December 7th and 8th, 2019.
