Small Groups - Big Impact

Adam Christian is CFC's Adult Ministry Team Leader. Read what he's written below about the importance of small groups and please take a few minutes to take the anonymous survey.

One of the things that drew me to CFC was our vision to “Glorify God by making disciples of all people.” This is at the heart of what it means to be a Christ follower. As a church, everything we do ties into this vision… our worship, our fellowship, our teaching, and our service all flow out of this understanding that we are called to be disciples who make disciples. There are so many different ways that we do this, but I want to draw attention to the one that I think may be the most important path to discipleship: small groups.

In these groups, we focus on fellowship together, prayer with and for one another, and opening God’s Word together. I don’t know of any other activity we engage in that ties into so many aspects of discipleship as a small group. My hope for us as a church is that if someone is going to engage in a worship service and one other thing, that the one other thing would be to commit to regular and substantive engagement with a small group. Ask anyone who has been a part of one for a significant length of time, and they will tell you that this is an environment where we can shape and be shaped by our brothers and sisters.

With this in mind, we will be working towards a significant launch of new groups (and a re-launch of existing groups) in the fall. To do this well, we need to know who is interested in joining a group, what our current needs are, and who might be a good candidate to train for facilitating the new groups we will be launching. Whether you are currently in a group, interested in joining a group, or even if joining a group is not the right decision for you at this time, I would like to ask you to take five minutes to fill out a short survey that will help us gather the necessary information to do this well.

I’m excited for the impact that these groups can have in each of our lives and for the community as a whole. Please join us in this significant way of living out our vision of glorifying God by making disciples of all people!

Thanks for taking the survey. It will very helpful for our team as we plan. We'll see you this weekend!
