Tuesday is Election Day. Americans have the privilege of getting to vote. It’s privilege that many in the world do not get. We encourage you to vote.
Here are a couple of Scriptures that call us to pray and trust the Lord in times like these.
1 Timothy 2:1-4
I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.
Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
We got an email this week that is a great idea. Here it is:
Copy the section below, and insert in the blank your favorite Candidate, Party, or Movement. Print it out, put it in a place you can read it between now and Tuesday, then relax....smile....and love each other:
3 Don’t put your confidence in powerful people (insert ________________________) ;
there is no help for you there.
4 When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
and all their plans die with them.
5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
6 He made heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He keeps every promise forever.
7 He gives justice to the oppressed
and food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.
8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
9 The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
10 The Lord will reign forever.
He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations.
Praise the Lord!
