Getting to know...Tootie Day

What is your position/role at CFC? (what’s your title and quick summary of what you do)

Purchasing Agent.  Basically keep track of what we have in stock and what needs to be ordered.

How long have you been at CFC?

It will be 13 years as of 04-28-17.

Family – married? Kids – names/ages?

Married to Benny.  I have 3 Daughters, 2 Son-in laws and 3 step grandchildren….. of whom I am very proud of each one.

Michelle is an RN and also is a City Council Woman here in Evansville. She is very involved in her church, work, civic organizations and travels a lot.

Dawndy is a Television Anchor for WIS-TV, Columbia, SC.  She also does a great deal of speaking engagements for churches and other Christian Organizations.  Her husband Craig, owns a State Farm Agency and is on their local School Board.  Their children are 17, 16 and 14.  They have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a hampshire.  It is a very busy, happy family.

Shannon is a National Director for CRU in Orlando, Florida.  She travels a great deal for CRU teaching and speaking.  Her husband Marc, an assistant professor, teaches Mechanical Engineering at Embry Riddle. He is going for a full Professorship and hopefully will hear something by April.  He and his students have won many awards for the school.  Marc is also involved with CRU.  Both Marc and Shannon, have made many trips to Haiti, since the earthquake there, to build and teach the people how to provide clean water for themselves.  And they have a very active new puppy.

All three of my girls, husbands, and grandchildren are great runners and are very active in sports.

Other than Jesus, what character of the Bible are you most looking forward to meeting?

Wow!  It really would be Jesus.  But otherwise, I think it would be Moses.

Favorite scripture passage?

Phil: 4:13  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

If you’re not at church or home, where’s the next likely place to find you?  Favorite thing to do in your spare time?

My very favorite would be tap class and piano lessons right now.  I participated in dance and swimming, teaching both through the years.   They are great loves of mine.   I also love my piano!  I’m taking lessons from Kathy Haymond who is a great, fun teacher!   Benny and I also enjoy are cars.  We have a 2004 Corvette which was owned and autographed by Tony Stewart and a ‘93’ 40th Edition Corvette.  I also love working outside and love anything to do with animals.  We have a very interesting cat and a very fun African Grey Parrot that talks a lot.  He repeats everything Benny says and nothing that I say.  Our own Ner Moo posted a video of Gabby on YouTube.

What consistently makes you laugh?

My co-workers!  ;o)  It’s a great place to work.

If you weren’t in ministry (at CFC), what would you likely be doing (vocationally)?

I taught swimming at USI, both children and adults.  I think that is what I would enjoy doing.

Favorite fruit and/or vegetable?

Oranges/Steamed Broccoli

What is God teaching/revealing to you these days?

With our world situation as it is today ….. to trust in Him completely!

Where were you born?  Where did you grow up?

Evansville and Evansville

Favorite part about working at CFC?

It is one of my ways to serve our Lord and Savior.

Favorite TV show from your childhood?  Favorite TV show these days?

Andy Griffith  and “Ha”… Andy Griffith.  I love the re-runs.

What are most looking forward to doing again in the spring/summer?

Being outdoors and riding my bike.

Favorite candy bar/candy?

Libs Turtles!

What is your pet peeve?

I can’t think of any.

What music/artist/song are you listening to these days?

I love Irish (Celtic) music of all kinds.  And I love piano music.  Right now I have a CD called “Celtic Lovesongs from Mainz, Germany.”  It is piano with a little, light guitar, some percussion sounds and soft Irish whistles, etc.  It is absolutely beautiful to listen to and makes you want to dance!  ;o)

If you knew they’d accept your invitation, who would you love to have a cup of coffee with?

I always wanted to have a little “get together” with John F Kennedy, my little grandmother and myself, because they both had such a wonderful sense of humor.  And I would enjoy seeing my little grandmother laugh in her soft way.  I know John F Kennedy would love and enjoy his time with her as well.   And I wouldn’t want to miss it!

Name two things on your bucket list

About a year ago my girls and sons-in-laws gave me a great gift (on my bucket list).  It was a lifetime dream of swimming with the dolphins.  It was unbelievably wonderful which I dearly loved and enjoyed!  So the two things on my bucket list now would be to:  1) Swim with the dolphins!  And 2)  Swim with the beautiful dolphins again!!
