Pray for our Middle School Students

by Dale Beaver

Recently, The Barna Group did a survey and found that Evansville is one of the top prayerful cities in the country. You can check out their findings HERE. We have the perfect opportunity to prove our prayerfulness. Below is a prayer guide our middle school students who are currently at camp.

What to Pray Before the Event

This year at MIX, our theme is, “FOR ALL, FOREVER”! We will look at several stories of people who encounter Jesus Christ in the book of John. As Jesustalks to people, He brings the Gospel to ALL and MIX wants to do the same. From the religious elite to the socially outcast Jesus shares the Good Newsand people’s lives are changed. Join us as we explore the Jesus whose grace, love, and atoning sacrifice is For All Forever, and pray specifically for Himto change hearts and lives this week.

Please feel free to read along with us and pray as we prepare for the week of MIX. In the days and weeks leading up to MIX, we ask you to beginreading through the book of John. We are looking at stories in chapters 3, 4, 8, 9, 11, 20, 21. Also please join us in praying the following prayers thatare inspired by the stories we read:

Pray for safety for all the staff, volunteers, and attendees who will be at CIY Mix.

Pray that our students learn how much God loves them, and the world.

Pray that our students learn to trust that Jesus is for them, even if they are in a tough situation.

Pray that our students understand that Jesus is for their friends, and their foes.

Pray that our students would be willing to allow the Holy Spirit to guide them in their hearts and minds throughout this week.

Pray that our students come home ready to share the good news, and live out its promises.

Pray for our student leaders who will be leading them spiritually throughout the week.

Pray that in this time leading up to MIX, God would protect our student’s heart against the evil one.

Pray that God gives several opportunities for each student to experience the worship, community, and truth He has in store for them this summer.

What to Pray After the Event

Often, this is the most important time to pray for students. As they adjust back to home and the real world, They're home and back in the real world.Life is hard and the temptation is to go back to the way things were. But God is calling them to SO MUCH MORE! During this time, find the studentyou've been praying for and ask them to tell you a little about their experience at MIX. Share that you've been praying for them and that you willcontinue to do so.

Pray that God gives them the strength to stand firm in their home, school and social settings.

Pray that God continues to challenge them by sending people to them that will display Christ and challenge them.

Pray that God reveals to them how they can play a role in His Kingdom right now.

Pray that through them, God would bear fruit that would last for generations.

Thank you, again, for praying for these staff, students, and leaders. We truly believe that it is of infinite worth.
