We are in a context that will allow us to actively read a book on community in a way that we might not have again in our lifetime.
Let’s be honest—the things we have taken for granted, even with gratitude, are glaring at us. I mean, talk about how much I appreciate my barber right now!! Who wants to show up late for church services now, “Mr. I-just-slip-in-for-the-message?”
We are acutely aware of how cavalierly we move through life apart from our current circumstances, and I admit it, the lack of routine and convenience is making my head hurt. Honestly, as much as people can drive us crazy, we miss being with everybody.
With this being the case, I would highly recommend Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s Life Together for your reading. I have read this book twice in the past, but I can tell you that I am experiencing it for the first time. If you decide to take my advice and read it, please let me know your thoughts.
