Firm Confidence and Hope

Madame Guyon (AD 1648-1717)

If the wind becomes hostile and blows a storm, we must cast anchor to hold the ship steady.  Our anchor is a firm confidence and hope in our God.  In this we wait patiently for the calming of the tempest and the return of a favorable breeze; just as David waited patiently for the Lord, and he turned to him and heard his cry (Ps 40:1).  Therefore, we must surrender to the spirit of God, giving ourselves up wholly to his divine guidance.

Psalm 40:1

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry.
