God Fulfills Our Hope

FROM THE NLT PRAISE AND WORSHIP BIBLE (c) 1997 Tyndale House Publishers, Wheaton, IL.

Psalm 62:5-6

I wait quietly before God,

for my hope is in HIm.

He alone is my rock and my salvation,

my fortress where I will not be shaken

Jim Elliot, martyred missionary to Ecuador, once wrote, "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."  Elliot recognized that his true and sure hope was in God, and so anything he gave to God would come back to him as an eternal reward.  In this transient and swiftly passing life, God alone is our rock, and we can rest in his care for us.  Because of this, we can place our hope in him and know that he will fulfill it.  Let us praise God, our salvation and our fortress.

O God, our soul finds rest in you alone, for you fulfill our hope.  We trust in your salvation, for you are our rock and our sure fortress.  We thank you for the certainty of our reward as we serve you.  Amen.
