Getting to Know...Carolyn Wallace
What is your position/role at CFC? (what’s your title and quick summary of what you do)
I am the Nursery/Toddler Director
How long have you been at CFC?
We have been attending CFC for over 4 years. I started working here last summer
Family – married? Kids – names/ages?
I am married to the one and only Sean Wallace and we have the most beautiful children Madelyn (12), Lydia Grace (6), Luke (3) and Stella (2) (she is a hot mess ;0)
Other than Jesus, what character of the Bible are you most looking forward to meeting?
Oh, I want to sit down with Mary, mother of Jesus – her testimony – watching her son die on the cross – I cannot imagine!! She possessed such grace and strength!! I would also love to meet Ruth – whoa – what a woman! I also think Mary and Martha would be a hoot to grab a cup of coffee with – oh and Paul and Silas!!! Ok – sorry you said only one – I couldn’t narrow it down!
Favorite scripture passage?
If you’re not at church or home, where’s the next likely place to find you? Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
I homeschool – so we usually are home or at church. We enjoy a good day at the park. I don’t exactly have “spare time” – any time I seem to have an extra minute – I am changing a dirty diaper or teaching someone grammar. But I wouldn’t change it for the world!
What consistently makes you laugh?
Sarcastic people – I get such a kick out of one’s sarcasm. My family makes me laugh. Sean makes me laugh – a lot. I try to find joy and laughter in most things. I am one of those people that laughs at inappropriate times – when I am nervous or even sad – I laugh. I laughed on my wedding day – ask Sean – he cried and I laughed!!
If you weren’t in ministry (at CFC), what would you likely be doing (vocationally)?
I am a nurse by trade. I would probably be serving people somehow – or working with kids
Other than the Bible, what’s the best book you’ve read recently?
Well, again, I am a homeschool mom – so I usually am reading whatever my middleschooler is reading (currently is The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe) but I can’t pass up a good, nail biting, on the edge of my seat - Veggie Tale book with my littles.
Favorite fruit and/or vegetable?
Nothing better than summer squash and zucchini on the grill! I am also a big fan of blueberries!
What is God teaching/revealing to you these days?
What is God NOT teaching me? Right now with a few hardships behind us – God is constantly reminding me that HE is here, the HE is in complete control – that nothing comes by surprise to Him – HE has carried me through some dark times – and HE never leaves me! I am the Daughter of the One True and Mighty King – when I let that truly soak in – Nothing can get me down – I am royalty!
Where were you born? Where did you grow up?
I was born in Springfield, Missouri – good ole Ozarks – then moved to Jefferson City, Missouri when I was in the 4th grade. Then went to college in Oakland City – and met a cute Kentucky boy – the rest is history!
Favorite part about working at CFC?
I LOVE the CFC kids team that I get to work alongside. They are absolutely an amazing group of women! I also LOVE the babies and the Toddlers – oh and our amazing leaders!!!!
Favorite TV show from your childhood? Favorite TV show these days?
I was a big Brady Bunch fan – also loved me some Flintstones. These days…I don't really have time to watch much. If I do sit down, Veggie Tales is usually what's playing.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
When you are away, assume nothing is done – so when someone does get something done you will be impressed and if nothing got done – it wouldn’t be a surprise! It is key to a long, happy marriage - hehehe
What are most looking forward to doing again in the spring/summer?
I love vicariously living my life through my kids – we love Holiday World and swimming
Favorite candy bar/candy?
What is your pet peeve?
Arrogance and stupidity and Sean leaving his big boots on the floor for me to trip on!
What are 3 adjectives people might use to describe you?
Joyful, sarcastic, happy
What music/artist/song are you listening to these days?
I love great praise and worship music – you know, the kind that you belt out at the top of your lungs! My oldest, Mady and I love to belt it out – pitchy and all!
If you knew they’d accept your invitation, who would you love to have a cup of coffee with?
My husband, Sean – with no kids around – overlooking a mountain scene
Name two things on your bucket list
To see my children grow into God honoring adults who help build God’s kingdom and I would love to go to Ireland and Scotland
