CFC is a great place for your whole family!  We’ve created a safe learning environment that your children will find fun and exciting.  Not only will your children look forward to participating, but as a parent, you’ll feel great about it. We strive to help each child learn that God is real and that a personal relationship with Christ gives meaning to life. We also want to teach children to be treasure seekers – to look for the treasure God has for them in His Word and to present their own treasures back to Him.

Proverbs 2:4-5 …if you look for it as silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.

Matthew 2:11 Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.

Your child’s spiritual development is foundational and we take seriously our mission of partnering with families to build children into Fully Functioning Followers of Jesus Christ.

Nursery (Room 324):
An excellent nursery is available for children, birth to 18 months of age, during all worship celebrations.  The infant nursery includes a special room for nursing mothers.   A silent paging system is available to notify you if your infant needs your attention during the service.  For those attending the service with small children, cry rooms are located on each side of the main floor of the Worship Center, should they be needed.

Classes (Age 18 months through Grade 5):
Through fun, age appropriate activities and relevant Bible studies, we guide children in developing a dynamic relationship with Christ while applying Biblical knowledge to their attitudes, actions and lifestyles.  Classes are available during all regular weekend worship celebrations. Volunteers throughout the children’s learning center would be glad to assist you in finding the right room for your child. These classes function on a school-like calendar. Children will be promoted at the end of each school year.

Kid's Choir:
Children love to make a "joyful noise unto the Lord." Children in the 1st - 5th grade not only learn how to sing, but how to truly worship.

Child Baptism:
When a child is interested in becoming baptized their parents (or guradian) should contact the Director of Children’s Ministry to set up an individual pre-baptism visit. During this time the child and their parents will meet together with the Director to talk about what it means to be baptized.

Baptism is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Baptism is an act of obedience. It is the way to publicly identify with Jesus.

". . . go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commaned you. . ."  Matthew 28:19-20

After baptism, your responsibility is to:

Jesus said to His disciples and to you, too: "If you love Me, you will obey what I command."  John 14:15.

Baptism ceremonies typically take place six times a year. For more information contact Greg Myers,Director of Children’s Ministry at (812) 867-6464.

Dedication of Children:
The child dedication service is a time when parents stand before the congregation and publicly commit their child(ren) to the Lord. It's the parent's pledge to raise their child in the ways of the Lord. This dedication process helps parents realize that their children are a gift from God and it hopes to challenge and assist parents to be examples in service and worship for their children. Our child dedication services are held typically four times a year. For more information, please call Alice at (812) 867-6464.

NURSERY & MULTI-AGE MINISTRY

NURSERY

Infant - 18 Months

What To Bring:
When packing a small diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

Your Child's Health:
We operate a well-child program. For the protection of all the children in our ministry we cannot accept a child with a runny nose, fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea or any other signs of illness. We request that you not place your child in the program while they are at risk of exposing other children. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our program a healthy place for all.

When You Arrive At The Nursery (Room 324):
A leader will meet you at the check-in area to receive your child and any other necessary items. Please check in and note any information that will help in caring for your child such as feeding times, allergies and special needs.

Saying Good-bye:
After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick good-bye and leave for the worship service. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long, and separation becomes easier over time. Our leaders will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return after the worship service is completed. If your child cries for an extended period of time of 20 minutes, we will locate you.

Checking On Your Child:
Feel free to check on your little one at any time during the worship service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you.

MULTI-AGE MINISTRY

Age 18 Month - PreKindergarten

Concept:
Multi-age grouping makes the journey more family oriented. This approach brings children of different ages together in classrooms and keeps them together as long as possible. It offers many developmental benefits:

What To Bring:
If packing a small diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

Your Child's Health:

We request that you not place your child in the program while they are at risk of exposing other children. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our program a healthy place for all.

When You Arrive At Your Child's Room:
A leader will meet you at the check-in area to receive your child and any other necessary items. Please check in and note any information that will help in caring for your child such as feeding times, allergies and special needs.

At the time of check-in, a leader will apply an adhesive name tag to your child's back with his or her name on it. Each child will also have a clip on numbered tag placed on their back. This number matches a numbered card given to the parent. A parent will need to present this same card at the time of check-out. A child will not be released to a parent without presentation of the assigned numbered card.

Snacks:
The food items consist of water and goldfish, pretzels and/or animal crackers. If your child has an allergy, please inform the leader when you check in your child.

Curriculum:
We believe even our littlest ones can learn! Each classrom has a crew consisting of one captain and several navigators. Thse crew members use their God-given talents and gifts to teach the children from a Bible-based curriculum entitled, "First Look." There are three Christ-centered concepts that will be taught and emphasized while the children are a part of the Multi-Age Ministry.

These concepts serve as a foundation for the children as they grow and are promoted into the graded classrooms. Regular learning experiences are planned and lessons are reinforced with songs, play and supervised activities designed with the ability of the children in mind.

Pick-up Procedures:
It is helpful for your child's leader if the same person drops off and picks up each child unless special instructions are given at check-in. To retrieve a child from our classrooms you will be required to provide the matching identification number that you were given when checking in the child. Please make sure that all your child's personal items have been returned to you before you leave the premises. Lost and found items can be found in the gym on the second floor.

GRADED CLASSES: Kindergarten - Grade 5

Kindergarten -Grade 2

Check-In Process:
When entering a classroom, the children are given a name tag for personal identification as well as an identification number. The adult will then sign their child into the classroom.  The adult checking the child into the classroom is also given a matching identification number that is necessary to release the child at the end of the service hour.

Story Time:
The children will learn a bible story and a memory verse that emphasizes the theme and focus of the lesson.  They will be encouraged to participate in a group discussion that will help them learn how to apply biblical truths to their lives.  The lesson may also contain music and a craft project that reinforces what they have learned, and allows them to creatively express themselves. Currently we use Gospel Light (www.gospellight.com) as our course of study for Kindergarten through Grade 2.

Snacks are provided for these classrooms. The food items consist of water and goldfish, pretzels and/or animal crackers. If your child has an allergy, please inform the leader when you check in your child.

Check-Out Process:
To retrieve a child from our classrooms you will be required to provide the matching identification number that you were given when checking in the child.

Elementary Grade 3 - 5

Each week kids enter classrooms to be greeted by our team of leaders. The sounds of energetic, worshipful music will be heard as children learn to worship God. They will also hear Bible lessons presented in such an interactive and creative way that they will be able to apply the truths learned to real life. They will also be encouraged to participate in group discussion. The lesson may also contain music and a craft project that reinforces what they have learned, and allows them to creatively express themselves. Currently we use Gospel Light (www.gospellight.com) as our course of study for Grades 3 &4.

The Knights of the Cross

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but... against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Ephesians 6:10-12

Course Objectives

The Knights of the Cross curriculum focuses on developing the character of Christ in each child by using the metaphor of the noble knight. As the children move from page to squire to knight, they will learn the spiritual virtues they need to develop in order to battle the powers of darkness. They will also receive training for and practice in virtual warfare on the spiritual battleground of their everyday lives.

If your child regularly attends the class, he or she should be able to:

1. Explain that Christ has won the victory over sin and death; understand that, though Christ has won the war over sin and death, this life is still a spiritual battleground between the forces of good and evil; realize that one way of “seeing” this battle is through the picture of the knight in shining armor on the battlefield; understand that all Christians, or Knights of the Cross, are called to engage themselves courageously and completely in this battle throughout their lives.

2. Explain that Satan is a real enemy who masquerades as an angel of light, who actively seeks to destroy them, and against whom they must arm themselves and stand their ground.

3. Explain that Jesus is their promised Messiah, their Servant-King; understand that Jesus has saved them from their sins and given them the free gift of eternal life; understand that they must accept this gift, by asking Jesus to become Savior and King of their lives.

4. Explain that when they receive Christ as their King and Savior, they are transformed into a new creation: they are now children of the King; understand that as new creatures, Christians are called to be lights in this dark world.

5. Understand that becoming Christ-like requires embracing the new nature in them, requires rigorous attention to sharpening the qualities of good character, and requires learning to accurately wield spiritual weapons.

6. Name and define 7 virtues of a Christ-like life: Valiant, Noble, Chivalrous, Disciplined, Steadfast, Compassionate, and Submissive; understand that through the power of the Holy Spirit they are able to lead virtuous lives, pleasing to God; name biblical people who exhibit the virtues of a Christ-like life; discuss practical ways the 7 virtues can be used to fight the spiritual battle in their everyday lives, so that they can live and finish their lives victoriously.

7. Use Scripture to expose Satan’s deceptions and discern God’s truth; explain that the Bible is our standard for truth.

8. Recite 15 Scripture verses that focus on the themes found in this curriculum.

Check-In and Check-Out Process:
When entering the classroom, the child will be checked into the classroom by one of our volunteers and be given a name tag for personal identification.  3rd – 5th graders are allowed to check themselves in and out.  This is providing the parent has clearly discussed a meeting place for the child after the service time.
