School of Christian Ministries is a series of five classes designed to equip the layperson with a biblical and theological foundation for ministry. Each of these classes is generally required in a typical bible college or seminary degree, but is available to you through CFC. While we would encourage you to complete all five courses for your own spiritual and ministry development, you may take as many classes as are offered at a time or as few classes as your schedule allows.

Your growth in SCM will include:

• Intellectual and spiritual challenge like you’ve never had before.
Weekly instruction from Colin Kerr M.Div., Ph.D. (a.b.d.) Southeastern Baptist Theological
Seminary, *supplemented as needed by other qualified instructors.
• Weekly readings from Scripture and class textbooks.
• Interaction with other students.
• Quizzes, assignments and exams to help you be diligent in your study and retain what you
have learned.
• Fellowship gatherings outside of class.
• A binder for class outlines, note cards and handouts.
• A Certificate of Completion to honor and celebrate your diligence upon completion of all
five SCM classes.

Cost:
There is a $20 fee for enrollment in any SCM class. However, the fee covers as many classes as you wish to take. *Students will be asked to purchase their own textbooks.
All texts will be available in CFC’s bookstore at a discounted price.

The following 2007-2008 Classes offered begin on September 9.

Adventures in Church History

Sunday evenings, 6:00-7:00 P.M. Room 406
It is difficult to understand contemporary Christianity without knowing how we got here. In this two-semester class you will hear the story of the pivotal people, groups, events and issues that have changed the course of history in the church and the world. As you grow to appreciate your Christian heritage, you will gain a clearer perspective on issues facing the church today and a deeper love for God who has preserved His people through many dangers, toils and snares.
Text*: Church History in Plain Language, by Bruce Shelley

Exploring the New Testament
Sunday evenings, 7:30-8:30 P.M. Room 406
Would you like to gain a comprehensive perspective on the New Testament? This is a two-semester study designed to give you a basic overview of each book in the New Testament. Special attention will be given to the historical context, purpose, author, key themes of each book and the formation of the New Testament canon.
Text*: Encountering the New Testament, by Walter A. Elwell and Robert W. Yarbrough

Think Like a Christian
Wednesday Evenings, beginning January 16, 2008, 6:30-7:30 P.M. Room 406 Have you ever wondered why people seem to look at life so differently? Are you weary of your faith being relegated to a purely private sphere of "religious truth?" This one-semester class will explore the concept of worldviews, examine major contemporary worldviews of our culture, help you develop a worldview that is distinctly Christian, and help you apply Christian worldview thinking to every area of life and culture.
Text*: Total Truth, by Nancy Pearcey

The other two classes that make up the balance of SCM, Exploring the Old Testament and Believing Bible Doctrine will be offered in the Fall/Spring of 2008/09.
